What is aazmao? The skill-first social app explained
· By Usama Ghazi · 3 min read
aazmao is a free social app built around skills instead of selfies. You share what you can do, people try it too, and everyone gets a little better. The name comes from the Urdu word آزماؤ, which means "try it". That one word is the whole idea.
Why we built a different kind of social app
Most social apps reward how you look and how many people follow you. That pushes people to perform, compare and scroll for hours. We wanted the opposite: a place where the work matters more than the person, where you can be a beginner without being judged, and where you close the app feeling you learned something.
So aazmao has no public like counts and no follower counts. Nobody can see how "popular" you are. What people can see is what you made, what you asked and what you tried.
The three kinds of posts
Every post on aazmao is one of three things:
- A Make is something you made or fixed, like a sketch, a recipe, a repair, a song or a line of code.
- An Ask is a real question you want help with, from fixing a bike to learning a chord.
- A Challenge is an invitation for others to try something, with a clear goal and an end date.
When you see a post you like, you do not just tap a heart. You take your turn: try the Make, answer the Ask or join the Challenge.
The Deck
Your home feed is called the Deck. It shows Makes, Asks and Challenges from the skills you care about, newest first. There is no autoplay with sound, no red urgency badges and no fake pressure to keep going.
Ranks you earn, never buy
As you post and take turns, you earn experience in each skill. That unlocks ranks, stamps, frames and items for your avatar. All of it is calculated on our servers, so it cannot be faked, and none of it is for sale. There is no shop, no tips and no paid courses.
Your identity stays yours
You join with a handle. You never have to share your real name, your face, your age or your location to take part. Your skills speak for you.
Safe for teens
aazmao is for people aged 16 and over. Members aged 16 and 17 are in a protected tier, and the system itself blocks private contact between teens and adults. Reports go to a real moderation team.
People and places
You can connect with Skillmates, people you learn with, and send private messages once both of you accept. You can join Circles and Squads for small groups, Groups and Communities for bigger ones, and follow Pages run by makers and organisations. Schools, colleges and universities can get private campus spaces.
Learning together
Live sessions and Try-Alongs let people learn in real time. Paths are step by step learning routes. Ustad is a helpful guide that explains and translates. Drops are weekly challenges delivered by a little pigeon post.
Try it
aazmao is free, works in any browser and can be added to your phone's home screen like an app. It is made in Pakistan by Qawex Solutions for people everywhere. If you have a skill, or want one, come and try it.
Try aazmao
Free, for people 16 and over. Share a skill, ask a question or take on a challenge.
